MacMedic™

MacMedic™ is a suite of tools, ranging in use from day-to-day maintanence and "fine-tuning" to disaster repair and recovery.

QuikExam™
The QuikExam™ routine provides you with a fast, easy way to repair your Macintosh disks.  This routine is perfect for weekly maintenance and evaluation of your Macintosh.  We suggest that a QuikExam™ be performed at least monthly.  The QuikExam™ button blinks at startup to remind you to perfrom an exam.

Recover
Use the recover routine to recover data from damaged disks, recover deleted items from the trash can and to recover recently deleted files.  Chapter 10 covers this function in more detail.

Defragmentation
Use the defragmentation routine to defragment and optimize your disk for the fastest possible file access times.  As of release 1.1.0 of MacMedic™, this routine has not been implemented.

Backup
The backup feature allows the user to make a full or partial backup of a volume, using a variety of options.  This backup is then compressed through the StuffIt Engine™ extension (if installed).   

System Configuration
One of the strengths of MacMedic™ is its ability to alert you to problems with your system configuration.  Chapter 13 completely covers this function.

Quit
Ends MacMedic™ and returns you to the Finder.

Product Support
The blue Product Support link will only appear on the main screen if your machine has the Internet Config Extension loaded on it.  By clicking on this link, MacMedic™ uses your Internet Config Extension's preferences to find and launch your internet browser and automatically take you to the Total Recall™ software support site.
